It is no indeed new for Bollywood celebrities sporting native American war bonnets concurrently receiving an adverse reaction from the majority. This time Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has come again scrutiny following a new photo posted by wife Gauri Khan on her Instagram account featuring SRK and their youngest son AbRam.

In the photo, SRK and AbRam are seen sporting Native American war bonnets, which has not gone down well with Instagram users who have condemned it as cultural appropriation.

The war bonnets are an integral part of Native American history and culture and not intended to use as a fashion accessory.

One of the Instagram users wrote in her comment: “This is wrong. U cannot wear a native American hat like that. I guess not many Indians k ow about native American history. The hat that he is wearing has a cultural symbol in Native Indians of America. Those feathers that he is wearing are earned and then put on a hat. Has he earned them? Ofcourse not. Just dont wear stuff without atleast acknowledging the culture and sensitivity behind it. It's not a fancy dress competition. Some dumb indians are writing jinga la la...excuse me brainless monkey. They are not African hats. Get some knowledge. I am Indian too but most Indians only know e=mc^2 . And are mostly dumb in history knowledge.”

Meanwhile, another user complained the while Indian’s criticize outsiders when they sport traditional Indian attire or accessories, it seems that when it comes to us, we are okay to trifle with the cultural appropriation of a foreign culture.

“Well this is completely inappropriate. We Indians complain about cultural appropriation but don’t hesitate to do it ourselves. You can’t wear those outfits unless you understand it’s cultural and historical significance and truly question if your purpose is self serving,” another Instagram user wrote.

This is not the first time a Bollywood celebrity has been trolled for sporting the Native American war bonnet. In fact, earlier this year, when Daboo Ratnani unveiled his celebrity calendar for 2019, Shraddha Kapoor was also seen war bonnet and her photo too was criticized to a great extent on social media.
