Saina bows out off Birmingham

Ace Indian Shuttler, who was the hope of the nation bowed out of Birmingham, after being beaten by seventh seeded Chinese opponent in the quarter finals.

India’s Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal lost in a humiliating match at the All England Championship at Birmingham, on Friday. The fourth seeded Indian lost to her seventh seeded Chinese opponent Xuerui LI. The Chinese had the upper hand all through the 40-minute match at the national Indoor Arena, in straight sets 13-21, 21-23.  Saina lost her quarter final match against the Li and had eventually bowed out of the tournament.

The Indian was no match to the opponent. Li was very ferocious in her meticulously planned approach. She posed some very good shots at Saina. Li played on the whole an aggressive game. Saina succumbed to self created pressure. Even her mentor Pullela Gopichand’s encouragement during the break did not see the better of the player. (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
