One of the two Good Samaritans, who received critical injuries while helping others involved in an accident on the freeway near the Davison I-96 has died.
Dr. Cynthia Ray passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday with her family at her side.
A vehicle had flipped on its side, when Ray and U of D Jesuit student Sean English halted in different cars to help. But, unfortunately they both were hit by a 17-year-old Keith Martin.
The six people inside the vehicle that flipped over on its side causing others to stop were not injured.
Sean English suffered a broken pelvis and lost a foot in the accident, while then boy is on life support.
Ray was a pulmonologist working at Henry Ford Hospital. According to a statement from the hospital Dr. Ray was a beloved physician, colleague, daughter, sister and friend.
Dr. Mike Eichenhorn, who is a mentor and close friend to Ray described her as "giving, generous spirit," she was considered a consummate caregiver-capable, caring and committed.
“It would have been impossible for her to pass by the car that flipped on its side, because that is the kind of person Cyndi was. She was always there for others. She always had visitors from all walks of life, whom she had helped through difficult situations. She embodied selflessness," Dr. Eichenhorn elaborated.
