Michigan’s Market for Oil-based Marijuana Products will be regulated by Medical Marijuana Laws, proclaimed state regulators on Thursday.

The Department of Licensing and regulatory Affairs issued its clearing of Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, that can relieve the pain of a person without making feel high declaring that state officials allow for its sales allow for its sale to medical marijuana patients, as long as it comes from hemp, a Cannabis Sativa Plant Species.

The clarification comes in response to the confusion over the legality of CBD.

“We received lots of questions about if CBD was going to be regulated along with marijuana and how hemp play into that. Now is the right time to send out an advisory bulletin,” said department spokesman David Harns.

He further stated, “The regulatory department does not know what impact the new classification will have on CBD oil sales, as the substance has never been addressed before by his board’s licensing procedure.”

Advocates of CBD oil said, it can help people with seizures especially related to epilepsy.

Arianna Welsh, co-owner of a business in Eastern Michigan selling hemp-based oil said, “My customers are mainly seeking pain relief. Some find my stores, named Mother Earth Natural Health after recommending by doctors. It would definitely have an impact on a lot of people that are finding a safe way to get that relief. Relief from pain, inflammation, anxiety and sleep issues are the most common reasons.”
